The International Formula Council (IFC) is an international association of manufacturers and marketers of formulated nutrition products (e.g., infant formula and adult nutritionals) whose members are predominately based in North America. The IFC was formed in 1998 when the Infant Formula Council (founded in 1970) and the Enteral Nutrition Council (founded in 1983) merged to form one Council (IFC).
The IFC and its members support the American Academy of Pediatrics’ (AAP) position that breastfeeding is the best form of infant nutrition. If a mother cannot or chooses not to breastfeed or chooses to supplement, an iron-fortified infant formula is the only recommended and healthy alternative.
IFC members are committed to assuring that their products are safe, nutritious and of highest quality. Infant formula products can be consumed with the utmost confidence.
